Sync you can trust — and see

Two devices, one manuscript, zero lost words: conflict-safe merging, automatic version history recorded on every device, and a live indicator that tells you exactly where your words are.

Sync that refuses to lose work

Folio Writer syncs through plain files — iCloud, Dropbox, or any Files location — and hardens every edge of the round trip: a stale copy resurfacing from an offline device is recognized and refused; structural changes merge field by field instead of replacing the binder; notes are only ever removed by an explicit delete; and any edit that would shrink a document first preserves the longer text in the project's conflict archive.

Version history, everywhere

Every save of every document — and of the binder itself — lands in a rolling, synced history inside the project: checkpoints about every ten minutes of writing, the twenty most recent states per file. File ▸ Browse All Versions… (⌥⌘V) shows versions recorded on any device, badged "Synced history". On iPhone and iPad, the editor's ⋯ menu has Version History with a changes view and one-tap restore. The paragraph you deleted on the laptop is recoverable on the desktop.

See it working

A quiet sync indicator under the binder shows the truth at a glance: Saving… Syncing… Synced. Continuous typing reaches disk at least every four seconds, and when another device is live, both sides check each other on a two-second cadence — Folio asks iCloud for updated files instead of waiting for the system's own schedule, so the hours-long iCloud delay is gone.

Force the round trip

Closing the lid mid-thought? File ▸ Sync Now (⇧⌘Y), a click on the indicator, or pull-to-refresh on iOS forces the full round trip on demand. And if two devices did edit the same passage at once, File ▸ File History ▸ Recover Synced Edits… shows every copy the sync preserved.
